How to Translate Off2Class for your ESL Students

Off2Class is delighted to announce that you can now translate our student interface for your ESL students!

As you may already know, your ESL students log in to Off2Class (with accounts that you set up for them) to complete homework assignments, review lesson summaries, take placement tests, complete quizzes and track progress. Many teachers in our community have expressed a desire to translate Off2Class into their student’s L1. We’re excited to announce that we’ve released this feature today! You can now translate Off2Class’ student interface for your ESL students.

Watch this short demo to see how to translate Off2Class for your students:

When you choose to translate your ESL student’s interface on Off2Class we will change the language that they use to interact with Off2Class including:

  • buttons and controls,
  • warning messages,
  • due dates,
  • email notifications; and,
  • login pages.

Great for new students!
Translating Off2Class for your ESL students can be especially useful when you’re onboarding new (sometimes prospective) ESL students. It can make it easier to get your students logged into Off2Class and completing the placement test or homework you’ve assigned to them.
Thanks to the Off2Class Community!
We’d like to extend special gratitudes to Przemysław Jankowski (who provided us with the Polish translation) and  Tina Antoniades (who provided us with the Greek translation). It’s wonderful to have teachers with us from such diverse linguistic backgrounds!
So far we have 8 languages!
We’re releasing our student interface language feature with an initial 8 languages (Chinese, Turkish, Polish, Greek, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese). If we’re missing your ESL student’s L1 – feel free to get in touch. We’d like to expand our language offering and you may be able to help us get the translation live!

April 2017 Update! We now have 18 language options!

Since launching the student interface translation we’ve added 10 more language options. You can now translate Off2Class into: Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czech, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese.

We hope you enjoy this feature as much as we do! Let us know if you will translate Off2Class to your student’s L1 or whether you prefer that your ESL students access websites in English!

      Hi John!
Nice to hear from you. It’s been ages. We already have added German! It was in our second ‘mini-release’ of languages. Our focus now is getting Russian, Korean and Arabic up.
      Kind Regards,
      Kris

Do you offer Japanese translations for the student interface?
I watched a youtube.com video to change the language and the options on the menu did not include Japanese?

Japanese isn’t currently supported, but we add languages by request, so I’ll add a vote for it!
