Onboarding Prospective ESL Students Webinar

Off2Class recently held a Professional Development Session for the itaki teacher community covering “Onboarding Prospective ESL Students”.

The webinar session was very well received by a group of 40 online ESL Teachers from various corners of the world. We covered strategies that ESL teachers can use when they are presented with a new or prospective ESL student.

Where do you start? How do you generate a learning plan? How do I match my student’s ESL weaknesses to a tailored curriculum? Watch the recording below to find out!

The Off2Class team runs webinars covering a variety of topics. If you’d like a similar professional development webinar run for your school, startup or team, please feel free to get in touch and we’ll see if we can organize a session!

The Off2Class lesson library is complemented by a powerful ESL Placement Test. You can use the ESL Placement Test for onboarding your new or prospective ESL students:

  • You can assign the test to your prospective ESL students within a couple clicks, here
  • Students will then be taken to a 100-question ESL Placement Test (multiple choice questions, starting at the A1 level and ranging up to the C1 level in increments of 20 – don’t worry, no 2 Placements are the same!)
  • Once your students complete the test we’ll produce their Gap Analysis which outlines their ESL deficiencies and weaknesses
  • Their Gap Analysis is then used to populate their Individual Learning Plan which will list each lesson from our lesson library that you can use to directly target your student’s ESL deficiencies and weaknesses!

Our ESL Placement Test makes onboarding prospective ESL Students simple and effective! Within a couple of clicks you’ll have a plan to specifically target their weaknesses!

Happy Teaching!

I am very happy with OFF2CLASS> I have improved the quality of my explanations and my students like it a lot.
I have face2face group classes of about 6 students. I use these lessons to either start a topic or end it. For example, I really like the way OFF2CLASS introduces the Present Perfec Tense. So, I use it to introduce the topic and assign homework. After three or four classes using OFF2CLASS, I start using the students’ texbooks. You won’t believe it. Present Perfect is easy to teach now.
    Thank you OFF2CLASS.

I haven’t yet joined OFF2CLASS but I really enjoyed this webinar. I think you have great information here. In fact, many of the things you suggest were my same thoughts for student assessments as well.I have a request for a demo with a small school. I am interested in seeing your suggestions for conducting a group trial lesson. I would like to join but as a beginning private tutor, I don’t know which package to buy. What is the difference in italki and OFF@CLASS?

      Hi Ava,
Thanks for stopping by! If you want to conduct a group trial lesson with a school (using Off2Class) you could just buy a monthly Off2Class subscription which will give you access to Off2Class for a month as you trial. Depending on how many students you will have you can pick a package size to meet those needs. Italki and Off2Class are completely separate companies. Italki is a tutor marketplace (teachers can find students – all language needs) Off2Class is a tool for teachers to teach ESL!
